Simone graduated from the University of Queensland in 2001 and went on to complete a 12-month internship at Randwick Equine Centre in Sydney, NSW. In 2003, Simone headed to the UK and worked in two private equine referral practices (The Minster Equine Hospital and Western Counties Equine Hospital) where she gained an immense amount of experience working with surgical referral cases in addition to ambulatory equine practice. In 2008, Simone was awarded the Certificate in Equine Practice from The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in London. Following this, Simone returned home to Australia in 2009 and was working in private stud practice in Western Australia when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2011, Simone returned to clinical practice in the Margaret River region and successfully ran a dedicated equine clinic in the region for 5 years. In 2017, Simone was awarded membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS) in Equine Medicine and in she furthered this post graduate study in 2018 by attaining a second membership in Equine Dentistry.
The move to Adelaide in 2017 and development of McLaren Vale Equine Veterinary Services has meant that Simone can spend more time with her family, including her horse-keen niece Scarlett. Simone is passionate about everything equine and can be found supporting local equine events and endurance rides when she’s not busy consulting, in addition to running her online business Equine Veterinary First Aid.
Simone’s main equine veterinary interests include:
